We were blessed to have Shelbie Schmidt as our ranch intern this summer. Shelbie is a fourth-year college student at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, majoring in Animal Science. She’s been involved in the cattle industry her entire life, born and raised on a ranch in North Dakota. She spent summers working for her family, along with local feed stores and also in extension services through NDSU.

One of her goals for this summer was to practice her artificial insemination (AI) certification to help with her goals to become an AI technician.

“I have been fortunate to learn so much about cattle and even more about myself during my time on my family ranch, as well as from NDSU, and I am only more excited to continue learning in Colorado this summer,” Shelbie says.
